ALTINKUM
Altinkum is situated on the west
Aegean coast of Turkey. It is located roughly 1 hour from Kusadasi, 1.5 hours from Bodrum and 1.5 hours from
Izmir - which is the third biggest city in
Turkey.
Altinkum means ‘Golden Sand’ and its 3 main beaches make it clear where the resort acquired its name. The stunning turquoise blue
Aegean Sea is host to water sport facilities along with sun beds and umbrellas on the beach and nearby restaurants.
THINGS TO DO
Whilst in
Altinkum experience the colourful world lying peacefully beneath the clear blue waters, with a course in scuba diving. The diving school is operated by a team of fully qualified instructors.
Or visit the ancient sites in Didim and surrounding areas. The Temple of Apollo is situated 2km from
Altinkum; see the ancient ruins of Didyma, and the famous head of Medusa. A trip to Ephesus / The Virgin Mary’s house is a must whilst visiting
Turkey, located 90km from
Altinkum; this is one of the most spectacular archaeological sites of the Roman Empire, once the largest harbour city of Asia Minor. Visit the Grand Theatre, with a seating capacity of 25,000, the open-air marble toilets, the Celsius library, and even the brothel!
If beach life and lazy days are more your thing then take advantage of nearly a mile of soft pale sandy beach, where you can rent a sun bed and umbrella for the day and chill until the sun goes down. And if you’re feeling energetic, have a go at the wide variety of water sports on offer, hire a pedlo, take out a jet ski, ride the banana boat or book a trip on one of the many boats in the harbour and sail away into the Aegean for the day on a 5 island tour!
If the main beach seems a little to much and quieter times are the order of the day, try one of
Altinkum’s other beaches, the third beach is located towards the harbour end of the resort and is popular with families with small children, as the beach is small and the water is shallow. A free minibus service is offered to holiday makers wishing to visit the beach. Operated by local restaurant owners, they will collect you from your hotel and take you back at the end of the day. The restaurants offer a wide variety of menu, including a snack menu, children’s menu, traditional
Turkish cuisine and a full English roast!
There is no shortage of things to do in the evening as
Altinkum becomes a hive of activity as bars, discos and restaurants become the focal point of the resort. The harbour front becomes a kaleidoscope of colour as flickering lights reflect on the sea like jewels from the array of bars and restaurants lining the beach front.
With so many bars to choose from
Altinkum can be as lively or laid back as you make it. The harbour and Dolphin square are lined with lively venues and is a popular choice with holiday makers as there is something to suit all requirements. You can dine with friends at one of the many restaurants or chat over a cold beer in one of the bars.
Alternatively, for those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, equally charming bars and restaurants can be found around the resort offering good food, local beers and never failing hospitality.
For party goers seeking after dark nightlife,
Altinkum has an abundance of late night bars and clubs, including its very own exclusive open air night club, Medusa, with live D.J s playing the latest dance sounds and laser shows every night, you can dance under the stars until sunrise!
